Carolyn Henry is honored to be part of the SUNY Nassau Community College Alumni Association. Henry recently retired from the New York City Department of Probation where she served as executive assistant to Branch Chiefs, Directors and the Deputy Commissioner. Henry worked for NYC probation for 31 years.
During her tenure at probation, she attended various colleges, taking night classes while still working during the day. Henry’s college courses initially started at SUNY Nassau, where she received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts in the year 2000. Henry attributes SUNY Nassau for giving her the incentive to seek higher education. Henry then enrolled at SUNY Old Westbury College where obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology.
While at Touro University, she obtained a dual master's degree in both Elementary and Special Education. She has had the wonderful opportunity to work with SCO Family Services, serving both as a counselor for high-risk families as well as tutoring children at risk and with special needs. Henry is also a licensed Chaplain for the State of New York. She is honored to work in this position, as it gives her opportunities to assist less fortunate and hurting individuals.
Henry is happily married and blessed to be the mother of five wonderful, successful adults. In her community, she serve as an Assistant Pastor at Rivers of Living Water Ministries on Long Island and co-host a weekly radio show that seeks to encourage the community.
