You are a Freshman applicant if since graduating high school, you have never enrolled in college, and you plan to obtain a college degree or certificate. Freshman applicants may also be eligible to receive financial aid.

You have or will have earned a recognized high school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) diploma by the start of your first matriculated semester at NCC.

APPLY AS A DEGREE-SEEKING FRESHMAN

  • High School Transcript: submitted by your High School Guidance Office via email to admissions@ncc.edu or through the Naviance system.
  • Foreign Educational Documents: send a scanned or digital photo of your education documents/transcripts to Admissions@ncc.edu. Documents may need to be evaluated by a third-party evaluator.
    • Original academic foreign documents are welcome to be submitted for review along with your application. In order to receive college-level credit equivalency for completed courses at your home college or university, you will need to meet the following criteria:

      1. Show proof the home college or university holds equivalent regional accreditation in the United States.
      2. A course-by-course evaluation from a third party credit evaluation service
      3. Third party evaluation company must be either a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), the Association of International Credentials Evaluators (AICE), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the American Translators Association (ATA), or the National Association of Foreign Advisers (NAFSA).
      4. The course must be equivalent to a current course offering located in the Nassau Community College academic catalog.
      5. The course must have the equivalent number of credit/credit hours as the equivalent Nassau Community College course offering.
      6. A grade of “C” or higher
      Please submit your original academic documents to the Office of Admissions for review. Nassau Community College may request a third party evaluation for foreign academic documents for further review and consideration for acceptance into the college
  • Major: include your first-choice major by referring to the major codes listed in the Program Requirement Chart.

Did you review the program requirement chart to see if you will meet the requirements for your selected program of study? Did you choose an appropriate second choice program?

Most freshmen with a recognized high school diploma will be accepted for admission. HOWEVER, many programs have specific requirements which must be met before admission is granted. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS CHART Applicants who are ineligible for their selected program will be admitted to an alternate program. Students can change their major for a future semester after the completion of any required remedial work and fulfillment of admissions requirements.

The Allied Health Sciences programs and Nursing have specific deadlines that must be met.  The deadlines are listed below, and all required documentation must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by the indicated date. Please refer to the Programs and Admissions Requirements Chart for more information pertaining to the required documentation.

  1. Medical Laboratory Technician: March 5, 2025
  2. Nursing: October 8, 2024(Spring admission), March 5, 2025 (Fall admission) 
  3. Physical Therapist Assistant: March 5, 2025
  4. Radiation Therapy Tech: February 12, 2025
  5. Radiologic Technology: February 12, 2025
  6. Respiratory Care: March 5, 2025
  7. Surgical Technology: March 5, 2025

If a deadline falls on a weekend, applications and all supporting credentials are accepted through the following Monday.

Submit required documents as soon as possible.

All new-freshman applicants will be required to submit, at least, their official and sealed high school transcript. Applicants applying before they graduate high school can submit their current high school transcript and be accepted before they graduate. They must submit another transcript indicating graduation during their first semester.

Please note, Nassau Community College reserves the right to request an applicant complete a third party evaluation for academic documents from outside of the Unites States. The evaluation company must be members of AACRAO, NAFSA, NACES, AICE, ATA and Better Business Bureau.

If you need to take one or more sections of the college’s Placement test, the Admissions Office will notify you through your personal email. Learn more about these exams.


Check mark Immunization records:

If you were born on or after 1/1/1957, and are registering for six or more credits, New York State requires you to submit proof of immunization for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) in order to secure your registration for classes. You must also submit the required NYS meningitis survey. Visit Health Services, to learn more.

All students are strongly encouraged to file for Federal Student Aid at studentaid.gov (NCC school code is 002873) and NY State Aid at HESC.ny.gov (NCC school code is 2113).
