Senior Observer

Senior Observer Program

Maintaining the health and safety of the NCC community is of the utmost importance and as such the College has implemented COVID related requirements that must be adhered to in order to enroll and participate in face-to-face classes. Per SUNY’s COVID-19 vaccination policy, students in courses meeting more than once a week on-campus will require a proof of COVID vaccination. Otherwise, students will be required to submit risk of attestation waiver. Masks worn on Campus are currently optional, but subject to change. Senior Observers participating in remote classes only will not be required to follow this protocol.

Senior Observers coming to campus must also establish access to the NCC portal in order to perform the various tasks required prior to coming to campus for classes.

Nassau Community College invites Nassau County senior citizens to participate in the Senior Observer Program. This program permits Nassau County residents 60 years of age and older to observe credit-bearing courses, tuition free, on a space-available basis. Certain courses at the College are not available through the Senior Observer Program. Although senior observers are not graded or given academic credit, they must meet course prerequisites. While the program provides senior citizens the opportunity to observe a course, the actual extent and level of participation is at the discretion of the instructor. For general information about the program, email the Lifelong Learning Department at ced@ncc.edu.
