In 2013, President Barack Obama signed a historic bill that strengthened the Violence
Against Women Act (VAWA). Included in the bill is the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination
Act (or Campus SaVE Act) which seeks to address the violence women face on campus:
the highest rates of stalking, the highest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence,
and 20-25% of female students experiencing rape or attempted rape.
Nassau Community College has been awarded a Federal grant through the Office of Violence
Against Women (OVW) to assist with educating the campus community in the areas of
interpersonal violence which include:
- Sexual Assault
- Domestic Violence
- Dating Violence
- Stalking
- Consent
- Bystander Education
In compliance with Campus SaVE, VAWA and Title IX mandates, Nassau Community College
has launched a campus-wide campaign. The “NCC Says NO MORE” campaign represents a
turning point in our College’s handling of sexual misconduct on-campus. NCC, and other
universities and colleges across the nation, have joined the movement to raise public
awareness and engage bystanders around ending domestic violence, sexual assault, dating
violence and stalking.
At the cornerstone of this exciting campaign is the College’s new interpersonal violence prevention training. This cutting edge, video-based training platform provides vital information on Consent,
Bystander Intervention, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, Stalking, and
much more.
The NO MORE campaign is the first in a series of awareness-building and educational
initiatives planned as part of NCC’s ongoing commitment to providing a healthy and
enlightening college experience.
