Clinical Internship I and II are offered consecutively each year. Clinical Internship I (AHS 210) is offered during the spring semester, followed by Clinical Internship II (AHS 211) in the summer semesters, May through August.
Clinical education is conducted at an affiliate hospital laboratory and is available only to medical lab tech (MLT) students that qualify, as outlined in the NCC College Catalog.
Students are assigned to a hospital or private laboratory in Nassau County and surrounding area. Here, under departmental supervision, students further their clinical training in selected areas of laboratory work. Through participation and practice, they refine technical skills and didactic principles as they relate to the laboratory workplace.
The College maintains an ongoing Memorandum of Agreement with each of the following facilities. Admission into the program is limited to insure clinical placement for all students. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, the availability of each of our clinical affiliates may change. In the event that the affiliating laboratories could not accept all of our students, a waiting list for clinical site space would be formed. Students would be given priority according to their Grade Point Average (GPA) and academic standing.
