The core of the Technical Theatre Associate in Arts is a four-course, skills-building sequence comprised of Stagecraft, Technical Production, Lighting Design and Scene Design, with additional classes in Theatre History and Production and Performance. The remaining Liberal Arts credits for the degree includes courses in Math, English, Laboratory Science and Social Science, and should be discussed with your advisor.

NCC’s Theatre and Dance Department is a very “hands-on” department, and Technical Theatre students participate in productions each semester with opportunities in all areas, including stage management, construction, lighting, and sound/projection. Specific interest areas can be enhanced with faculty mentorship, providing a one-on-one experience. The goal is to expose students to the broad spectrum of technical theatre and foster in-depth exploration as students’ interests develop.

We operate two theatres throughout the academic year with a variety of theatre and dance performance. Our inventory includes a variety of lighting and sound equipment: fixed and moving conventionals, fixed and moving LEDs, ETC ION lighting control, projection equipment with Qlab software, and a Qlab and ProTools workstation. We have a fully equipped Scenery Shop adjacent to the Theatre Building.
