Mission Statement of NCC Nursing

The mission of NCC is to provide high quality, low cost education, and career preparation to meet the needs and interests of the community it serves. The nursing program supports the mission of Nassau Community College by creating an educational program that provides nursing education opportunities for the diverse resident population of Nassau County. The opportunity for persons whose ethnicities is under-represented in healthcare to become Registered Nurses, allows them to realize their maximum potential, while enhancing the economic and cultural vitality of Nassau County and New York State.

NCC-ESC Multi-Award Nursing Program:

Nassau Community College (NCC) and SUNY Empire State College (ESC) offer a Multi-Award Program with the awarding of the Associate in Science Degree by NCC and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing by ESC. Nassau’s Associate in Science nursing program, is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN*), leading to eligibility for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and to become licensed as Registered Nurses. The Bachelor of Science in nursing degree program, is accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and open to individuals who hold a registered nurse (RN) license.

The goal of our Multi-Award program is to prepare pre-licensure and post-licensure nursing students to practice safe and competent patient-centered nursing care in a variety of health settings and to optimize human health and wellness potential across the life span, within a rapidly changing health care system.

These programs are designed to empower students with the knowledge and skills that are essential in meeting the health care needs of a diverse population within the community, and to inspire in the nursing student a sense of integrity, commitment and competence.

Throughout these programs, students' competencies will grow incrementally in the attainment and utilization of nursing knowledge, critical thinking, clinical reasoning, communication, leadership and technology skills essential to their role within the profession and the health care team.
