Our Student Professional Development/Employer Services faculty will do their best to offer assistance in-person, or via e-mail, phone, or Zoom conferencing.

Student Professional Development and Employer Services supports the academic goals of the college through our programs and services. We help students and alumni gain practical experience and prepare for today’s competitive job market. Our office provides placement assistance for part-time, full-time, summer, internship and volunteer positions free of charge. From personalized advisement to group workshops on job readiness skills, we strive to help our students and alumni become more marketable and reach their career goals.

Career and Transfer Counseling at NCC strives to serve the needs of each student with the goal of empowering them to develop the insights, experience, and connections to pursue personally meaningful education and career choices throughout their lives. We help students understand and shape their passions, interests, and skills by connecting them with majors, experiential opportunities, and potential schools to continue their education so they can take on the world with preparation, knowledge and vigor.

See many resume and cover letter samples. Learn how to prepare for interviews and access insider information on what it’s really like to work in an industry, company, or profession—and how to position yourself to land that job.

*The next step is to press the "Get Started" button on the screen.
*From there, you will select the "Register Now" option at the bottom of the screen.
*You will be asked to enter your email address then follow the prompts to complete your profile.
*Once the steps are completed, click Create Account.

Will I be able to find a position which is flexible enough to work around my class schedule?

Many employers look to hire college students for part-time jobs and do work around their schedules. Be sure to read the job description carefully, to find out if the hours and days needed are listed as flexible.

What are the different types of jobs that you list in your office?

We maintain a wide variety of jobs in many different career areas for our students and alumni.

If I learn of a job through your office, will I be sent out on an interview right away?

You may get sent out on an interview the same day that you inquire about a job that is posted in our office. It is also possible, however, that an employer will schedule an interview with you for sometime later.

Do I need to have experience to get a job through your office?

No, our office assists entry-level through experienced job candidates.

What type of job should I look for, if I'm not sure what I want to do?

To begin with, try to determine your career goal by assessing your skills, interests, values, personality type and preferred work environment. Consider utilizing the Career Counseling and Testing Center (M-14) to help you.Answering these two questions may also help:

What type of work do you think you want to do?
Is there any type of work that you know for certain that you don't want to do?

Do I need a resume when I come into the SPD Employer Services Office to look for work?

If you bring in your resume it would expedite your job search, but it is not required. Additionally, there are resume guides in our office and counselors to assist you with preparing your resume.
