FREE EDUCATION FOR ADULT LEARNERS AT NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Recognizing that higher education can be the pathway to economic opportunity and upward mobility, the SUNY Reconnect program provides free associate degrees in eligible programs for New Yorkers 25 to 55 years old with no college degree. Boost your earning power with a free associate degree from NCC in high-demand fields like cybersecurity, medical assistant, information technology, and more!

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

New Yorkers 25–55 years old without a college degree who enroll in an eligible full-time or part-time associate degree program. Students must take a minimum of six credits per semester and complete their degree within ten semesters. See SUNY’s FAQ for more details regarding student eligibility and financial aid.

WHAT COSTS ARE COVERED?

The SUNY Reconnect program covers the costs of tuition and fees for eligible programs after all other financial aid is applied. Book and supply costs are also supported. The program does not cover room and board/housing, transportation, meal plans, and other non-academic expenses.

NCC’s Children’s Greenhouse, located directly on campus, has provided high‑quality, affordable childcare to the Nassau Community College community for over 45 years. Serving children from two months to five years old, the Greenhouse offers a safe, nurturing environment with flexible scheduling and sliding‑scale fees based on family income, ensuring student parents have the support they need to balance family responsibilities with their academic goals.

Please note the Nursing program is a multi-award program, with courses offered at both Nassau Community College and SUNY Empire State University. Only Nassau Community College courses are eligible for coverage under the SUNY Reconnect program.


HOW DO I GET STARTED?

  1. Apply to Nassau Community College at ncc.edu/apply for your eligible program of interest. (Please note that a separate application is not required for the SUNY Reconnect program.) 
  2. To be eligible for SUNY Reconnect funds, you must first apply for all financial aid for which you qualify:
    • U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents: Must complete the FAFSA® and TAP applications. (NCC’s school code for the FAFSA® is 002873, and the TAP code is 2113.)
    • Non-U.S. Citizens who meet New York State residency and educational requirements: May apply for aid through the NYS DREAM Act, which provides access to state financial aid programs, including TAP.

After all financial aid is applied, SUNY Reconnect will cover any remaining tuition and fees for eligible credits.
