Random Acts of Kindness sponsored by the Achilles Club will host The Random Acts of Kindness* Marathon. *What is a Random Act of Kindness? Kindness: When we go beyond duties or jobs that are expected of us and reach out to help another person or animal or plant, we are doing an act of kindness. We sense another person’s need and we understand how it feels to need something and how nice it feels to be helped or loved, so we offer our kindness or help. Random: When kindness is unexpected—done for no other reason than just to be kind and without expecting anything in return—simply to express the goodness within us, this is a Random Act of Kindness. Why: When we do kind things for other people, they feel so good about what we did that they often do kind acts for others. As kindness is passed on from one person to another, a ripple effect is created and, in this way, one person’s kindness can be the seed for bringing happiness to many others.
