"When I initially arrived at SUNY Nassau, I felt overwhelmed and was confused about who I wanted to be. I'm so grateful I received guidance from Dr. Hynes when I enrolled in the Honors Program. As a result, I took a lot of in-person classes and joined clubs. I'll always be thankful to her for encouraging me to get involved and find places to belong both in my classes and in the SGA. In addition to the supportive, driven coworkers I encountered in the office, I made wonderful friends in my classes. I made the best decision of my life when I decided to join SGA because it helped me define who I am and develop professional abilities. I would advise prospective students to sit down with their professors and talk about their life aspirations. Students should also join clubs that support your goals. They provide you with opportunities for networking and professional and personal growth. I’m glad I made Nassau Community College my first stop on my road in higher education."

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.
