I am truly thankful for the NCC Nursing Program. As a New Grad they told us the first year of nursing would be hard, but nursing in a pandemic is something else. Working in an acute care setting and having an abbreviated orientation to my hospital, unit, and operating system has truly been a completely stressful and difficult situation. During my clinical we used the SUNRISE system which I have become proficient with however, I am finding out that most other hospitals are using EPIC system. The one saving grace I had, is EPIC had a similar interface to the newly mandated "post clinical’ program we were using (so even though I hated doing it), I will personally say that has helped me become familiar with the system and more proficient during these stressful and crazy times.
I am truly grateful and proud to be a graduate of the NCC Nursing program. I have heard on numerous occasions that hospitals love Nassau Students, but never believed it. Well, I can say now I understand. I truly feel that I am able to provide quality care, and perform at a professional level due to my extensive and comprehensive instruction provided by Nassau. If it was not for the program and its intensity, stress, and hands on experience I really do not think I would be ready and “feel” ready to perform right now during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thank you NCC for not only the opportunity to be a graduate of the program, but for preparing me for the nursing profession (and nursing in a pandemic).

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
