"I am a first-generation college student and have been paying my way through college. I had previously attended NCC because of its affordability and location. I had such good memories from my first time attending that it made sense to go back to finish my degree. People also recommended Nassau's Surgical Technology program to me because it is one of the best in the area. Going back to school in my 30s was scary to me at first. I thought I was going to stick out because of my age or not be able to connect with other students. That was not a problem. This time I became active on campus as vice president of the surgical technology club. I also worked part-time as a student aide. I was welcomed with open arms by my classmates and the faculty. I first attended the College as a 17-year-old just out of high school and left as an artist continuing her education at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I then came back as a 30-year-old making a career switch from the photography industry to healthcare. I made such good friends on campus and solidified my identity at Nassau."

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
