"I finished high school in Peru in 2004, graduated from a technical school in 2006, and at age 17 immediately got a job at a law firm in my hometown. I was in college for a year and a half when my family and I migrated to the United States for a better life. At 19, I left the idea of studying aside to focus on working. I now have three young children. I know that having a degree from this country will provide a better future for all of us. However, since I graduated from high school in another country, and over 10 years ago, I had to start again from the beginning. This was difficult for me, but the difference was that I was now in a country where your goals can be achieved if you have the motivation and dedication. I applied to NCC in 2020. With remote classes I was able to go to college and take care of my children at the same time. I work as a legal assistant as well. I was honored to be invited to be part of the honor society in my second semester. Nassau Community College has many financial aid and scholarship opportunities to help students pay for their education. As my mom always told me, "Education is the biggest investment you can make." After I graduate from Nassau, I plan to continue my education and then build a career, both for myself and my children."

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
