March 10, Garden City, NY- SUNY Nassau Community College is pleased to announce that WHPC 90.3 FM, the voice of SUNY Nassau, has been named the Best Community College Radio Station in the Nation by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System. This is the second year in a row the College radio station has won top honors and the third win in the past four years.
“I am so proud of our SUNY Nassau students, staff members, and the community members who volunteer their time every week. Without their hard work and dedication this honor would not be achievable,” said Shawn Novatt, Director of WHPC 90.3 FM. “Being named the Best Community College Radio Station by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System proves that we are staying true to WHPC’s mission to provide professional broadcast training to qualified SUNY Nassau students. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish in 2022 and beyond.”
Nassau Community College’s radio station is home to approximately 100 volunteers,
most of whom are SUNY Nassau students. Its programming includes sports, entertainment
and informational shows, including a variety of music shows featuring pop, rock, polka
and Italian music. The station can be heard at 90.3 FM and worldwide through the
iHeartRadio, Audacy, TuneIn, and ‘WHPC’ apps, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Home
devices (say “Play WHPC!”). It is the only college radio station in Nassau and Suffolk
to broadcast in high definition.
