Whether you know exactly what you want for your career or you’re undecided about your future–if you love learning about the world within and around you, then the field of Biology may be the right path for you. The field of Biology can open doors beyond health care that may include:

  • botany
  • parasitology
  • environmental biology
  • evolutionary biology
  • marine biology
  • medical biology
  • molecular biology
  • mycology
  • zoology

Nassau Community College has the classes and the dedicated faculty who can help you find your way. The Biology program provides a robust program designed to ease the student into the world of Biology and follows the SUNY Biology Transfer Path for easy transfer to other SUNY institutions. All of our laboratory courses satisfy the associate degree science requirement and biology courses can be used for elective credit.

The Biology program also articulates with SUNY Binghamton and Buffalo University 2+4 PharmD early assurance agreement that allows students to transfer seamlessly from Nassau Community College to these SUNY universities to attain their PharmD degree, a professional doctorate in Pharmacy.

We know that academic success doesn't only come from academics' rigors and includes what happens outside of the classroom and we are dedicated to making sure students are prepared with a solid academic foundation that includes extracurricular clubs and research opportunities. You will be encouraged to:

  • Join the Biology Club, Sustainability Club, Botany Club, or Outing Club
  • Apply for a 10-week immersive summer science research program with Stony Brook University called BioPREP.
  • Apply for the Beta Beta Beta National Biology Honor Society
  • Apply for the many scholarships offered to our majors

We encourage you to explore our website and reach out with any questions you have about our Biology major or opportunities.
