A celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
La Borinquena is an original character and patriotic icon that debuted in 2016 in
an independently published graphic novel series created and written by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez.
Her superpowers are drawn from the history and mysticism of the archipelago Boriken
(Puerto Rico) and the Tainos, its indigenous people.
Edgardo has curated his personal collection of artworks from his La Borinquena series
to give visitors a glimpse into the world he created that equally balances the graphic
novel genre with activism and advocacy.
The exhibit at the Gallery is an inter disciplinary collaboration co-sponsored by
the Hispanic Heritage Month Committee, the Human Rights Committee and the Faculty
Student Association.
This exhibition made its debut at the gallery of Fundacion Corte in Vlejo San Juan,
Puerto Rico and will tour across the United States with the generous support of Cortes
Hermanos. Please call the Gallery at 516.572.9699 for additional information and Gallery
